EARLY CHILDHOOD RESOURCES

www.cabellwayne-youngchild.org This portal, provided by the E.R.A.S.E. Barriers to Early Learning project, is a central stop for families with young children who are looking for information on advocacy groups, agencies, childcare, child development information, education, and health & medical services.

www.educationstartsearly.com The Education Starts Early campaign is a campaign of the Cabell-Wayne Early Childhood Council that is being funded by a federal Early Learning Opportunities Grant. The message is that "we have the potential to develop tomorrow’s community leaders, workforce and volunteers by investing in early childhood today for when we give our children the early experiences they need and deserve, they will grow up to share their potential as future members of our community.

www.talaris.org Talaris Research Institute is dedicated to discovering how children think, feel, and learn. From birth to age five, a child observes, experiments, and begins to understand the world – a learning experience unmatched by any other. Scientific studies are revolutionizing our ideas about how a child’s mind and brain develop. These ideas have the potential to change the way we parent our children and how we educate people of any age. It is our goal to connect relevant research findings to practical applications – combining the science of learning with the practice of learning. After careful analysis, we transform research into useful tools and information for parents, caregivers, educators, healthcare providers, and the corporate community.

www.teamwv.org The TEAM for WV Children’s website highlights their main programs – the Child Assault Prevention Project (CAP); the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA); Healthy Families America; the New STEPS screening, assessment and referral system; our Shaken Baby Syndrome Campaign and many other useful resources for parents, family members, teachers, child care professionals, and others who work with children and families.
